This was our 6th Annual WODktoberfest Competition and it was absolutely our biggest and baddest yet. With over 250 Athletes competing, and an amazing lineup of vendors, sponsors and supporters as well as a new location, we were thrilled to share the day with our community. Petrie Island proved to be our best location yet. With it’s varied terrain, scenery, ample parking and space and easy access from the queensway, Petrie was a perfect backdrop for a fantastic day. We couldn’t have asked for better weather for athletes and spectators alike. Our charity this year was the Friends Of Petrie who are helping to restore and rebuild the area from the flood damages of this past spring, which tied in perfectly with the venue and event itself. We will have a large donation coming to them in the very near future, thanks to all involved.
We pride ourselves on being an integral part of our Orleans Community and we love being able to showcase some of it every year. We were extremely happy to have the support of our our elected officials, MP Andrew Leslie, MPP Marie France Lalonde and Deputy Mayor and Councillor Bob Monette. Local Orleans brewery, Stray Dog Brewing hosted the beer garden onsite to provide the athletes, spectators and volunteers a chance to queen their thirst. We had a charity BBQ going thanks to Sobey’s Tenth Line and Urban Cowboy Eats Food Truck was on site with and amazing selection. Our onsite vendor village included Play It Again Sports, Unsung Hero Apparel, 5Star 4Mula Supplements, Nutrition Sports Fitness, Muscle Mlk Canada, PaleoEthics, Gorila Fitness, Platinum Rig and more. We can’t thank all of our sponsors enough for making it a special day for the incredible athletes.
We had an incredibly hard working group of volunteers and judges who gave up their free time to help the event run smoothly from start to finish. They were the unsung backbone of the day itself and the days and weeks leading up to it. The athletes themselves gave it their all for 4 gruelling workouts and put on a show for everyone there to watch. All of them, whether beginner or pro deserve a hand for digging deep and working hard all day long. We look forward to seeing them all back again next year.
In all we couldn’t have been happier from start to finish, with the venue, the weather, the participants and everything in between. We now step back, take a breath and start daydreaming about how we top it next year.
