Staying on Track During the Holidays

Staying on Track During the Holidays

The holidays come and go so quickly. But remember - what will matter most are the things you’ve already set as your priorities—your family, your kids, and your health. Therefore, staying on track during the holidays is as important as everything else.

It’s that time of year again—the season of joy, family, fun, and, let’s be honest, a little bit of chaos. The holidays are special, but they also bring a whole lot of extra stress. Between planning for family visits, Christmas shopping, holiday parties, the kids being home from school, and trying to squeeze in all the to-dos, it’s easy to feel like there’s just not enough time in the day.

And you know what? That’s okay. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed right now. I feel it, too. It’s part of the season.

But here’s the thing I’ve come to realize—and something I want to share with all of you: we have to step back and focus on what’s truly important.

A Reminder for All of Us

The holidays come and go so quickly. Yes, there’s a lot happening right now, but in six months, will anyone care if you missed one errand or didn’t find the perfect gift? Probably not. What will matter are the things you’ve already set as your priorities—your family, your kids, and your health.

Fitness matters—not just because of how it makes us look or perform, but because of how it makes us feel. That one hour in class, surrounded by your Fortis Fam, is more than just a workout. It’s your chance to step away from the noise and reset. To focus on yourself.

I get it—there will be days this season where you feel pulled in every direction, and maybe you’ll think about skipping your workout. Maybe you’ll grab a quick “not-so-healthy” lunch because it’s all you have time for. And guess what? That’s fine. Life happens. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to do your best to keep showing up.

Because the truth is, letting the season completely derail your priorities will only make things harder in the long run. Staying on track during the holidays, even in small ways, will help you come out on the other side feeling proud of yourself.

Lean on the Fortis Fam—We’re Here for You

One of the things I love most about CrossFit Fortis is the community we’ve built together. This is your family away from home, and during the holidays, that support means more than ever.

If you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or just “off,” let us help you. That one hour in class? Use it to forget about your to-do list. Let us challenge you, encourage you, and make you smile. Trust me—it’s a game-changer.

And if you need a hand—whether it’s with fitness, life, or just needing someone to talk to—don’t hesitate to ask. That’s what we’re here for. We’ve all been there, and I promise you’re not alone. Lean on your Fortis Fam.

Here’s How I’m Tackling the Holidays (and What I Recommend for You, Too)

To keep myself on track this time of year, I try to follow a few simple rules. I hope they’ll help you, too:

  1. Schedule Your Priorities First
At the beginning of the week, I schedule my workouts and other “non-negotiables” first. I treat them like important appointments because that’s what they are. Once they’re in the calendar, I plan everything else around them.
  2. Don’t Overdo It
This time of year is supposed to be fun. Don’t let the stress of trying to do everything take that away. Do your best, focus on what matters, and let the little things slide.
  3. Use the Community Around You
That’s what we’re here for! Come to class, clear your head, and surround yourself with people who will cheer you on no matter what. Sometimes that’s all it takes to reset and tackle the day with a fresh perspective.
  4. Enjoy the Season
This is a special time of year, and it only comes around once. Make the memories, enjoy the traditions, and be present with the people you care about. The rest? It’s just static.

Let’s Finish the Year Strong—Together

At the end of the day, we’re all in this together. I know the holidays can feel overwhelming, but I also know how much better we all feel when we keep showing up for ourselves and each other. Whether it’s hitting your workouts, finding time to reset, or simply leaning on the Fortis community when you need a hand, you’ve got this—and we’ve got you.

So, let’s stay the course. Let’s stick to what’s important. And most of all, let’s enjoy the season together.

I’m so proud of everything you’ve all accomplished this year. Don’t let this busy time of year undo that hard work. Show up when you can, lean on your Fortis Family, and let’s finish the year strong—together.

Enjoy the season, smile a little more, and let the rest go.
